Do you support the efforts to protect the Marco Eagle Sanctuary at 665 Tigertail Ct. as a preserve/conservation area for the Bald Eagles now nesting on the property? If so please read on and be sure to vote in our poll.

Conservation works and it is working in our back yards. One of the most beloved and symbolic birds in America was saved due to past and current conservation efforts. Conservation efforts that banned the use of certain chemicals, used habitat protection and regulation over development allowed the American Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) to regain its glory and repopulate its native lands.

For many years, there has been a pair of adult eagles with an active nest located on the Marco Island golf course. This nest produced one, two and even three eaglets each year. Golf course management, golfers and residents who enjoyed the grounds behind their homes, tell of the beauty watching the eagles dive for fish and soar above. This leaves us with only two active Eagle nest on the Island Country Club property, and the one on the Marco Eagle Sanctuary at 665 Tigertail Ct. There are people actively trying to obtain ownership of the Tigertail Ct. property and build an 83 thousand square foot building on the site.

It is important that we get all the community support we can to stop this development activity and protect this last piece of green space for the Eagles and the hundreds of other species of wildlife on this 11.6 acre property.
